PROJECT DETAILS:
In Arnhem the entrance of a 1875 townhouse into a warm and luxurious welcome. They wanted a place to sit, a large mirror to check their appearance and an atmosphere that felt chic hotel fitting the age of the house. Dark tones and thoughtful lighting were used to complement the historic character of the home.
The custom cabinet with integrated lighting is the main feature of the hallway. Part of the design is built with Ikea Pax modules, giving the client flexibility to organise the interior exactly as they need. The oak herringbone floor adds richness to the space. In the wider section of the hallway, a brass strip creates a refined and distinctive detail that elevates the design.
Because the cabinet reaches the high ceilings typical of the period, a practical solution was needed to reach the upper cabinets. A vintage ladder from an old primary school was repurposed and now hooks easily onto the cabinet, allowing access to the upper sections while adding a touch of playful history.
The result is a refined and inviting hallway that blends modern comfort with the timeless character of the home.
